| After losing a weak hive (hive 3) to Wax
Moths, I decided to go ahead and make a couple of splits. I
went into the Hive 1 removed a frame with eggs, pollen and honey and
put in a medium super that was set up about 75 yards away from the
bee yard. I also took a frame with pollen and honey and put in with
the other frame with eggs so split one has been done. I then set up
another medium super as a split and went into hive two and removed 2
frames, one with eggs and 1 with pollen and super. Now there are two
splits and we will see how things go. Unfortunately the splits were robbed and no queens were made. I have been told to add entrance reducers on the next splits. |
